I have graduated and will be joining Akamai in 2021 !!

I am a Ph.D. candidate in NaT lab at Tufts University, advised by Prof. Fahad Rafique Dogar. I am interested in network measurements, cloud and future Internet architectures, and wide area networking.

Research

My current research involves using cloud infrastructure to improve performance of latency sensitive applications. The following projects are part of my thesis:

  • Improving Network QoS using Cloud Overlays : Design and implementation of a reliability framework that uses cloud as an overlay. This framework provides three services: forwarding, caching, and coding. Applications can use these services for faster packet delivery and loss recovery.

  • Measurement Study of Wide Area Cloud Paths : Measurement study of inter data center network of different cloud providers and its comparison with public Internet.

Past

Before coming to Tufts, I completed my Masters in Computer Science from NUST, Pakistan in 2015. During the same time period, I was very fortunate to work with Dr. Affan A.Syed in the areas of Network Security and Software Defined Networking.

I did my undergrad in telecommunication engineering from NUCES FAST in 2007. I also have five years of experience working in ISP industry. I have worked for Motorola and Nokia Siemens Networks providing technical support services at various levels to different ISPs.
