I'm in the process of getting my single engine pilots license. It takes a minimum of 40 hours of flight time to qualify for a VFR pilots license. Of course you have to take a test. VFR stands for Visual Flight Rating and enables you to fly a small plane between clouds in good weather. You are not, however, allowed to fly through clouds.
I started my training in a Cesna 152, a small two seater with wings on
top (like the little animated airplane on this page). I'm thinking of
switching to a Tomahak Piper which is a small two seater with wings on
the bottom.
