Audrey Girouard is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Tufts University, working with Robert Jacob. In the fall of 2008, Audrey was a visiting researcher in the InSitu group at INRIA/Universite de Paris-Sud, working with Wendy Mackay.

Specializing in Human Computer Interaction, Audrey is interested in next generation interactions, such as reality based interactions, tangible user interfaces, adaptive interfaces, as well as interruptibility research, and machine learning applied to HCI. She is currently facinated by Brain Computer Interfaces, studying the use of brain imagery to enhance HCI with the use of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). She wants to employ this device to augment an interface, to use it as an additional input measure, on top of classic ones such as the keyboard and the mouse. This would be used to create passive brain-computer interfaces for healthy users.

In 2007, she received the PostGratudate Scholarship for doctoral studies from NSERC and completed her master's in computer science at Tufts. Before she came to Tufts, Audrey received her undergraduate degree in Software Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada. She is a Junior Engineer with the Order of Professional Engineers of Quebec (OIQ) in Canada.
